Health authorities warn of rising cases of severe A streptococcus among Australian children

The Federal Department of Health issued a warning about the high number of infections with a type of bacteria that kill children among Australians, and one of its doctors described the strong symptoms associated with it.

And both New South Wales and Victoria announced that a large number of injuries among children had been recorded in the recent period.

A streptococcus bacteria that infects the skin and throat, known as A streptococcus, killed two children in 2022 and put many more in the intensive care unit.

Infection with this germ abounds in Australia, and most of them have mild symptoms that the patient may not even feel, but that does not mean that they are not dangerous at all.

This germ can cause death or permanent disabilities.

Doctor Brad McKay says that the symptoms of strep A in children are high fever and rashes on the face and body.

And there are some other symptoms such as tachycardia, cold extremities, weakness and lethargy, vomiting and nausea, abdominal pain, and lack of urination.

Doctor McKay added that some of them suffered from meningitis and abscesses inside the throat, and he advised parents not to be complacent when seeing symptoms on their children.
